Linkedin is one of the most popular resource to build your professional network. You can optimize your linkedin profile for search engines by following steps:
- Your profile should be 100% completed. Ensuring that this contains all relevant career history and interests. LinkedIn makes this easy by displaying a percentage score to show how complete your profile is. Make sure you’re being honest and describing yourself and career clearly.
- Add a profile photo. Your picture triggers recognition and makes networkers feel like they are connecting to a real person. Then optimize your summary section with relevant keywords.
- Try to use a closest name within the URL. Example: example: www.linkedin.com/in/arindambiswas. It will help you to optimize your own name in the search engines.
- Make your profile publicly available. Provide enough information for search engines. It will help you to index your profile by SE's.
- Make connections within the Linkedin network. Try to reach as much as you can.
- Request recommendations from your colleagues. Don't ask for recommendations from any unknown person.
- Try to post answer and get some value addition to your profile.
- Optimize your job title. LinkedIn now includes your job title within profile title tags. I’m not saying you should lie about your job, but within reason you could include descriptive keywords which may help to attract relevant search engine traffic. For example, using “SEO Expert” as a job title instead of “Search Engine Optimizer”, if appropriate.
